In his creative process, Jahana does not believe in such things as autonomous determination.
Accordingly, it is not inspiration that makes him determine materials, colors and compositions, but the meanings of his works stem from the elements of magic and religion they incorporate.
This method Jahana calls”Magical Heteronomy”.
It is method that negates the artist’s independence. However, come to think about it, in pre-medieval times, before art liberated itself from religion, such creative methods were perfectly common.
What Jahana tries to do here is to relativize the image of the modern artist.
What I found rather curious was the fact that the artist himself claimed that it was matters of “love” that he aims to discuss through his creative endeavors.
In medieval times it would probably pass as “love of god”.
I guess the point of success is connected to the question how love and heteronomy can inspire creative work, and how much richness this can generate, in a world without god.
